The Challenge

The US Air Force’s implementation of the DoD Standard Procurement System (SPS) consists of 118 production and training databases in a client server environment located at 100 Air Force Contracting organizations around the world. Since the Air Force SPS environment is not centralized, the challenge is to provide effective and efficient technical and functional support at the lowest cost without providing a full team of Subject Matter Experts located at each Contracting organization.

The Solution

With its partners, Suntiva delivers IT support services to the Air Force SPS System Program Office at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex, Alabama. A team of less than 20 technical and functional personnel based at the SPO provide support to over 100 Air Force SPS System Administrators who are supporting 5800+  Air Force SPS. Additionally, the same team supports functional and technical operations at the AF System Program Office. IT support services provided consist of the following:

  • Remote Database Administration
  • Remote server hardware and software support
  • Remote Interface software support
  • Programming support for applications and of monitoring utilities
  • SPS Functional system support
  • Information Assurance and Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) certification support

Air Force SPS IT Support personnel employed by Suntiva and its partners routinely address and solve between 6000 and 8000 trouble tickets annually, with all tickets closed within 48 working hours. Support personnel also provide technical and functional support to Joint Basing, document transfer, software version upgrades, emergency site visits, software version testing, and many other special projects.
