Suntiva embraces all aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and is committed to improving the quality of life of its workforce and their families as well as the community and society at large. Suntiva and our employees are active in the Washington DC and surrounding areas. CSR takes many forms – from volunteerism to financial contributions by employees and the Company. Suntiva has teamed up with Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS), a non-profit community service organization dedicated to helping individuals and families find new paths to self-reliance and a brighter future. Our efforts through teaming with NVFS have included initiatives that support the following programs:
Northern Virginia Family Service
In honor of Suntiva’s 14th Anniversary in 2016, Suntiva donated over 6 large boxes of much needed household and personal items in support of NVFS Hunger Resources and Thrift Shop centers in Northern Virginia. More importantly, Suntivans volunteered their time to help organize incoming donations and improve store displays at one of their local Thrift Shop helping to organize and stock shelves. In 2017, Suntiva teamed back up with NVFS in celebration of its 15th Anniversary and collected household items for families that are less fortunate and much needed school items for schools in the community.
Gifting for Families –Suntiva’s Toy Chest
Suntiva teamed up with Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS) for the holidays and provided boxes of toys and clothing for children who were less fortunate. Suntiva collected well over 4 boxes of toys, books, clothing and sport gears for children between the ages of 12 – 17 and infant to toddler. This effort helped to make the holiday season brighter for more than 2,000 children and their families in Northern Virginia..
Environmental Education for Underprivileged Preschoolers: Suntiva helps to “Make our Garden Grow!”
Suntiva returned to the community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – giving back to the community initiatives for 2016, only this time focusing on the environment. Suntiva was assigned two classrooms with a total of 19 preschoolers each. We provided books on the environment, blankets and earth balls for each child. We also provided grow-indoor vegetables for the classrooms and tools for their garden. We also organized their school outdoor shed, prepared their school vegetable garden for the spring and joined them in their classroom for story telling and activities.
Our past community involvement includes:
Hope for the Warriors
In 2015, Suntiva celebrated its birthday by teaming up with Hope for the Warriors, a non-profit organization, to collect donations for children of wounded soldiers who attend the Austin Play Room Daycare center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. The children are being cared for through donations made to this facility while their parents (our wounded soldiers) are recovering at Walter Reed. Sunitva donated over 30 Gift Baskets for the children attending the Austin Play Room daycare. The Events Coordinator for Hopes for the Warriors said: “It was a pleasure meeting you all yesterday. I cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work in putting this together. Suntiva went above and beyond to make this a very successful donation drive. You all should be very proud of yourselves. We appreciate your support and your generosity in making this possible.”
Soldier’s Angels mission is to bring joy to the children of military families during the holiday season. Soldiers’ Angels is committed to showing America’s gratitude to families in need. Suntiva sponsored an Adopt-A-Family style program sponsoring two families through the program. Employees contributed gifts and monetary contributions of more than $1000.00 for each family.
The Child and Family Network Centers
In 2015, Suntiva teamed up with The Child and Family Network Centers (CFNC) out of Alexandria, VA. CFNC is the only nonprofit organization in Alexandria that provides quality bilingual preschool and family support services free of charge to the working poor. These families often cannot buy gifts for their children during the holiday season. This is where Suntiva came in! We provided gifts for each child in the school and donated several items to a new classroom.
Wellness Program Initiatives
Each year, Suntiva employees not only participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer as part of our Wellness program, but also they raise money for Alzheimer’s care and support and research.
